Cosmetic labels: how to get water, oil and friction resistance

Materials, laminations and adhesives that hold on shower bottles, perfumes and oils. EU compliance and tailored technical guidance.

In cosmetics, the label fights three constant aggressions: shower water, formula oils and daily friction. A label that fades or peels after 2 months sabotages the quality perception. Here are the material + lamination + adhesive combos that hold.

    Material: PP, not paper

Paper, however premium, absorbs water. For cosmetics we use white or clear PP, which is 100% waterproof. Paper remains an option only for dry products (solid soaps, powders).

    Lamination: matte for premium positioning

Matte lamination kills reflections and gives a velvet tactile feel. For bath products with die-press embossed logos, the contrast is spectacular. For products with heavy handling we go gloss lamination for maximum abrasion resistance.

    Adhesive: permanent for plastic bottles

Permanent acrylic adhesive is the standard on PE/PP bottles. For glass perfume bottles with lacquered surfaces we ask for prior testing - some lacquers are incompatible.

    EU compliance

For cosmetics sold in the EU, the label must comply with Regulation 1223/2009: legible INCI list, PAO symbol, batch, minimum durability date. Our team can review your artwork before print.
